Monthly Meetings February 12, 2007 A quorum of members had assembled by 6 p.m.for the meeting to be called to order. After the reading of the minutes, there was a unanimous motion to accept them as read. Under old business, discussion progressed about the web cam issue for Lake DeSmet with Bill Adsit stating the need for having money in the bank account for one year's rent if we descided to use Direct TV as carrier. Further discussion followed pertaining to our purchase of cameras, estimated difference would be by example, a fixed camera with satellite or with a cell phone say, WildBlue Satellite for $49.95 monthly. With our consideration being equipment security and maintenance. Security would be insurance. Web cam could also be used in the Three Poles area but high risk for being shot so we would need container that doesn't tolerate shots. Camera issue needs permission from Game and Fish at on point of the lake. If some could be found to sponsor which would be the best possibility, it could be a good service to garner money raising capabilities. Biggest issue is having the needed funds i.e. $5,000 to guarantee the continued offered service. Zoom in cameras could benefit Game and Fish, maybe law enforcement as well. Bill suggested having matching funds to get the project done. Toward getting funds for working, discussion followed about printing cards, membership cards, sold with a chance to win a rifle, i.e. $250 to buy a rifle. Ray stated that could be done if at dealers cost. Work to sustain on a raffle. Wondering about paid memberships surfaced. Wondered about other organizations like Historical Society who has paid memberships. We do need to have a membership though. Bill suggested having a fund that is paid membership and that be separate from a raffle. Suggest a GPS with SiRF*3 program. Bill suggest that PLUC should have a letter at the next Land Board Meeting. Commissioners Rolston and Cram stated they were in favor of county commissioners but they don't have the man power to manage the area of Three Poles. The controversy with the land leasee is that there will be more damage and that it is in the better interest of the leasee to allow the use for recreation. We need to make enough NOISE to get us off their backs. The suggestion to follow Joyce Erpelding's letter of special use permit in memory of Roy Etchemendy. Joyce will be contacted whether she got permission from the Etchemendy family . We will get an idea about the position of the commissioners also. How a memorial could be set up was questioned. Motion made, seconded and passed to adjourn the meeting. Adjourned at 7:26 p.m. JELo 06/25/2007 |
