If you plan on using your GPS with data from this site, it is critical that you understand how to set and use the proper datum. The State of Wyoming has mandated that we use the 1983 North American Datum (NAD83) for GPS coordinates and any maps provided here. BE AWARE that many BLM, USGS, and other maps use the 1927 North American Datum (NAD27) which is different. Please also be aware that readings from consumer GPS receivers can be off by as much as 30 meters (~100ft) and that this degree of precision can be degraded even further by such things as poor visibility of satellites and sun spot activity, among other things.
